February 14, 202350th anniversary gala in Thader Cieza
Last Friday, January 20th, we celebrated our 50th anniversary gala at Thader Cieza. It not only marked the commemoration of the first stone fruit cooperative in the Region of Murcia, but it was an anniversary in which the entire city of Cieza celebrates its most authentic flavor.
The cooperative was founded in 1973 with only 19 growers, who decided to join their work in pursuit of a great dream. These farmers are the main protagonists of the story, and it is in their honor that we have named the entire 2023 campaign Pioneers of flavor.
The event, held in the Azahar salon in Abarán, was attended by Mr. Fernando López Miras, President of the Region of Murcia, Mr. Antonio Luengo Zapata, Counselor of Agriculture of the Region of Murcia and Mr. Pascual Lucas Díaz, Mayor of the City of Cieza. They were joined by various government representatives and Mr. Ángel Villafranca Lara, President of Agro-Food Cooperatives of Spain, as well as representatives of agricultural federations and financial entities.
The gala, which began with a corporate video of the company’s history, was inaugurated with a speech by Mr. Manuel Ruiz Piñera, President of Thader Cieza. The president took the opportunity to announce the exhibition that Thader Cieza will develop, Pioneers of Flavor, which will be at the Siyâsa Museum in Cieza from next February 25th. Alejo Lucas was the invited master of ceremonies to lead the event, which included the presentation of citations and speeches by the main institutional representatives.
During the event, the documentary called Pioneers of Flavor was also premiered. In it, some of the founders of the cooperative tell their story and speak of a life linked to the field. The space was characterized by elements related to the history of the cooperative, presenting at the same time some of the pieces that will be found in the next exhibition. Among other pieces, watercolors designed by the famous illustrator Alicia Aradilla, a collection of photographs by Cieza’s Carmen García, and various traditional agricultural instruments were exhibited. The gala continued with a dinner in the main hall for all attendees and the musical group Los Happys closed the event with a musical performance.
