Agro-Day in Spring Blossom 2022

Manuel Ruiz, president of Thader Cieza, presents the PGI Cieza Peach in the Agro-Day in Spring Blossom 2022.

The Agro-Day hosted technical presentations related to agriculture in which the main protagonist was the Cieza peach. They were held as a countdown to the campaign and when flowering had just begun in some areas of the city.

Manuel Ruiz Piñera, president of Thader Cieza and president of IGP Cieza peach, presented the characteristics and advantages of the recently acquired certificate.

“The historical reports determined the links between the Cieza peach and its origin, and the technical reports the relationship with the land, the quality of the water of the Segura river and the particular climate of the area, allowing the achievement of the PGI Cieza Peach”, the president stated on 11 February.

It has taken eight years of work for two of the peach varieties from Cieza, Baby Gold 6 and Romea, to achieve certification when compared with other varieties from any other area of Spain, due to their great organoleptic properties: flavour, colour, sweetness and texture.

He closed the presentation with a view to the following objectives, the incorporation of new varieties into the identification and the European expansion of this recognition.
