Thader Cieza at Fruit Logistica 2024
February 10, 2024The stone fruit season 2024 starts in Cieza
April 19, 2024So that the stone fruit season can begin a few months beforehand, the Cieza blossom season takes place, a spectacle of flowers and colour like no other.
The trees that will begin to produce peaches, apricots, nectarines and flat peaches in April-May are now in full blossom. From February to March there is a spectacle of flowers that blend together in shades of pink, magenta and white creating a blanket of colour that covers the entire countryside of the town of Cieza. This natural landscape of more than 13,000 hectares is the scene every year of routes and leisure activities, thus becoming one of the main tourist attractions of the city.
It is at this time that the work of our farmers begins to ensure that the best quality and tastiest fruit on the market is grown. To this end, at this stage it is essential to carry out a good thinning. Knowing how this technique works is essential to guarantee large fruit and ensure efficient production.
Thinning is an agricultural technique we use to unload fruit from the branches of trees by removing some flowers from the tree. If production were not controlled by thinning, the branches could become too heavy due to an uncontrolled number of fruit per branch. In this way, we also prevent nearby fruit from hindering each other’s growth and we achieve a uniform distribution throughout the tree.
At Thader Cieza, our farmers have been growing fruit trees all their lives. Being the first stone fruit cooperative in the Region of Murcia gives us unique advantages in terms of knowledge, tradition and dedication. We love our work and this is reflected in the result.
